Criminal Pursuits

Criminal Pursuits is the crime strand of the Telos Moonrise digital fiction imprint.

Currently closed for submissions. Submissions are usually open between certain dates each year – please check back here periodically, or see the Moonrise Blog for updates.

What we want…

We are looking for crime/mystery/thriller stories with strong plots and convincing characters. There should be twists and turns, clues that are genuine, clues that may be red-herrings … The stories can be set in any time – past, present or future – and should avoid predictability. Cross-genre stories are acceptable, as are regular detective stories.

Think Peter James, Steig Larsson, Dashiell Hammett, Jim Thompson, Ross Macdonald.

Submission requirements …

In the first instance send a one page synopsis with the first 5000 words of your manuscript as a doc, docx or rtf file by email to submissions@telos.co.uk.

Layout will be to professional standard so – single quote marks, English UK spellings and grammar. Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt. Double spaced.

This file should also contain a cover sheet with your legal name, address, telephone contact details and e-mail address in the top left hand corner. Right top corner should state whether this is a novel, novella or short story collection and the genre. Centred, halfway down the page, should be the title of your work and your preferred author name. Bottom left should show the approximate word count of your completed manuscript.

We aim to give you a quick response, but as with all professional submissions please allow 12 weeks before enquiring.
