Andrew Morgan has enjoyed an amazing career in television. From AFM (assistant floor manager) in the sixties on programmes such as The Troubleshooters, The Expert and Sherlock Holmes, he moved to work as production assistant on Softly, Softly, Warship, Walk with Destiny, Wings and Colditz before before becoming a freelance director and bringing such gems as Who Pays the Ferryman?, Secret Army, Blake’s 7, Doctor Who, Triangle, Swallows and Amazons Forever!, Juliet Bravo, EastEnders, The Famous Five, The Prince and the Pauper, Casualty and Heartbeat to the screen, along the way winning an Emmy Award for Little Lord Fauntleroy.
In this memoir, Andrew lays bare the trials and tribulations of working as a director, with stories of friendships, affairs, drama and happiness behind the scenes.

After a period working as an actor and stage manager, Andrew Morgan joined BBC Television in 1967 and became a Production Manager in Drama (Series & Serials) before becoming a Freelance Director in 1978. Since then he has specialised in producing and directing drama for the BBC, ITV Companies and Independents in the UK and throughout Europe and Canada
He was awarded BAFTA nominations for Swallows & Amazons Forever, Prince & the Pauper and The Worst Witch; won a Gold Medal at the 31st Annual Film & TV Festival, New York for White Peak Farm; received an EMMY and 1st Prize at the Banff Television Festival for Little Lord Fauntleroy, and received Royal Television Society nominations for The Worst Witch and Knight School.
He is a Liveryman in the Fishmongers’ Company and was elected Prime Warden 2013-14. He was High Sheriff of Greater London in 2009-10. He is a member of BAFTA and the Garrick Club.
His interests include: travel, inland waterways and theatre as well as music (jazz and classical but nothing ultra modern). He also enjoys rugby and cricket (watching only these days) and he loves sailing. He has been married for 56 years and has a son and daughter and three grandchildren.
